The Faculty is pleased to offer up to 10 University-funded PhD studentships.
The Studentships will be available to applicants on a competitive basis and will be awarded on academic merit and the overall strength of the application. In the research proposal, applicants should clearly demonstrate academic excellence in areas relevant to the strategic interests of the School of Political. Social and International Studies.

Available to students from within or outside the EU:
- Faculty studentships cover tuition fees (UK/EU rates), a tax-free maintenance grant (currently £13,726 per year), and a research training support grant.
- International students are welcome to apply but due to funding restrictions must be able to pay the difference between UK/EU fees and international fees.

Arts and Humanities at the University of East Anglia
The University of East Anglia, based in Norwich, has a high profile across a range of Arts and Humanities subjects and a strong commitment to research by both its academic staff and students. The Faculty of Arts and Humanities has developed a carefully tailored training programme for its students to ensure that they are well prepared both for their research and for their subsequent careers.
The Faculty has a strong ethos of intellectual collegiality between its Schools of Study, and a history of interdisciplinary innovation. Whatever their particular subject area, all research students are encouraged to interact with academics and their fellow students in a series of seminars, workshops and related research events. Teaching opportunities, based on in-house training, are generally available at some point during the period of study.
