NIHR PhD Studentship â Public health interventions for healthy ageing
The Liverpool and Lancaster Collaboration for Public Health Research (LiLaC), and the Department of Public Health and Policy of the University of Liverpool, are pleased to offer a PhD studentship which will contribute to the applied public health research programme of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) School of Public Health Research collaboration (SPHR).*
Studentship description
The proposed focus of the studentship is the development and testing of a methodology for evaluating public health interventions to support healthy ageing. This work will be linked to the âAgeing Wellâ theme within the SPHR collaboration, and specifically to evaluation of the World Health Organization âAge-Friendly Citiesâ initiative (AFCI). The component to be carried out under this studentship would be expected to include the following elements:
The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop the detailed project proposal in light of further discussion with the project team, and taking into account any revisions to the scope and methodology planned for the AFC evaluation study and the overall Ageing Well theme.
The studentship will be supervised internally by Professor Nigel Bruce. Awards will be made for a maximum of three years full-time study from October 2013.

Candidates should have a first degree equivalent to a 2:1 or above in a relevant subject from a recognised University or Higher Education Institution. A Masters level postgraduate qualification is desirable but not essential.
Eligibility
Overseas applicants whose first language is not English will only be considered if they have achieved an overall IELTS (or equivalent) score of 6.5 or above, with a minimum pass of 5.5 in each of the core components.
