BBSRC Doctoral Training Partnership
Studentships available for a 4-year Interdisciplinary PhD programme in Industrial Biotechnology and Bioenergy.
The University of Nottingham and Rothamsted Research are world-leading centres of excellence for research and education. We now invite applicants to join our innovative, integrated four-year PhD training programme in Industrial Biotechnology and Bioenergy.
The future is set for renewable and waste feedstocks to play an increasing role as a source for chemicals and energy production. The University of Nottingham is a global leader in Bioenergy, Biorenewables and Sustainable Chemistry, and has a strong focus on solving real-world problems using tools from synthetic biology, in partnership with major fuels and chemicals manufacturers and related industries.

The Doctoral Training Partnership provides a comprehensive, interdisciplinary PhD training programme (see 2013 programme details) and a series of 3 mini rotation projects during Year One.

Applications are invited from students with backgrounds in Bioscience, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Chemical/Biochemical/Process Engineering, Environmental Science, Pharmacy, Computer Science, Maths or related disciplines.
Funding
Funding is available for four years from Autumn 2014. This studentship includes a three-month placement outside of the research environment. Eligibility for full funding is restricted to UK and EU students (fees and stipend).
To be eligible applicants must have (or be expected to achieve) a first or upper second class UK honours degree, or the equivalent qualifications gained outside the UK and/or a postgraduate Masters degree in a relevant subject.
