Applications are invited for a Coleg Cymraeg Cendelaethol sponsored PhD studentship in Physical Education, Education Studies and Health from September 1st 2013. The PhD will be submitted through the medium of Welsh and will aim to determine the effectiveness of a cross-curricular health, and activity intervention delivered to primary school teachers on pupilsâ health and physical literacy.
The project will consist of visiting two Welsh language primary schools in Cardiff. Baseline health, fitness and physical literacy testing measures will take place at both schools. The teachers of one school will receive a cross-curricular intervention through the medium of Welsh with ideas on how to improve health and physical literacy through curriculum subjects. Post-intervention testing will take place at both schools, interviews with teachers and focus groups with pupils will be conducted at the school that receive the intervention.
