What You Must Know To Study Abroad

You may be at home and wondering why study abroad or even what you must know or do to study abroad and yes, there are some important things you must know before you take the huge step of studying abroad.
  • You should make sure your paperwork necessary for travelling is ready i.e. making sure you get your passport as soonest and applying for your visa on time.
  • Secure your courses, flights and accommodation (housing); all study programs are different from each other but most involves traditional coursework.
  • Know what classes you will be taking and when they meet so you can plan activities around that schedule.
  • More importantly  is that you keep up to date with currency exchange; when deciding where to study abroad, you should consider daily expenses. Do not assume that the U.S Dollar will have the same value when you are studying abroad as it did when you checked the exchange rate four or five months ago, especially if your country has a particularly unstable economy.
  • Also remember to check for any updates on your destination. You will want to know if your study abroad country is sinking or rising, if they are experiencing any political conflicts, if there is a deadly disease outbreak there etc. it is good you know that some of the best places to study abroad are in economic or political flux, so you need not worry or panic over every little accident.
  • Remember to register with Student Travel Insurance so that you will be protected when conditions stated above is happening or going to happen.

  • Get all necessary health checkups and vaccinations; you might need to visit a travel clinic, where you will find out exactly what you need to stay healthy oversea. Contact your health insurance company to let them know where and when you would be travelling and request your prescriptions in advance.
  • Make sure that your flights, itinerary, plane tickets, maps etc. are organized and keep them on hand or in your bag, because you don’t want any boarding passes or bus tickets left in seat pockets for stress free and efficient travel.
  • Talk to your bank to find out how your credit and debit cards work overseas. Some banks will have their own, hassle-free atms in your area, and some might have regional partners that do not charge a fee for withdrawing cash.
  • Lean on a traveler credit card as much as possible, and only take out cash when absolutely necessary. Also, make sure all your credit cards will be accepted at your home university.
So, these the things you need to know before considering studying abroad.
