CLAUDETTE MACKAY -LASSONDE GRADUATE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP

The Claudette MacKay-Lassonde graduate scholarship was set up in memory of the late Claudette MacKay-Lassonde , P.Eng.. She  was a pioneer for women and a leader in the engineering community. Founder of CEMF, she built the Foundation along with other concerned professional engineers in response to the killing of 14 women engineering students at École Polytechnique in 1989. She held degrees in chemical engineering, nuclear engineering and business and was passionate about supporting women in engineering. Her daughter Julie, also an engineer, is a CEMF Board Director In Ms. Lassonde’s memory, one $15,000 scholarship is granted to a woman studying engineering full-time at the PhD level. Eligibility: Applicants must be Canadian citizens or have a Permanent Resident Card, and must have one of the following: a. An undergraduate degree from an accredited Canadian engineering program b. A P.Eng. OR c. Received or applied for Engineer in Training or Junior Engineer status with their provincial association. This is an ambassadorial scholarship and applicants must demonstrate they are leaders, ambassadors for the profession and serve as role models for other women who dream of becoming an engineer.
