Applications are invited for a funded MRes studentship tenable in the Faculty of Life and Health Sciences at the Coleraine Campus.

All applicants should possess a class 3 driving licence. They should hold a first or upper second class honours degree in environmental sciences, biology or a cognate area or they must provide reliable evidence that such a degree will be awarded to them prior to the enrolment date. Skills and interest required of applicants are general laboratory skills, fieldwork capability, driving licence, willingness to learn new techniques, interest in aquaculture, hydrobiology, water chemistry and molecular biosciences.
A valid driving licence for cars would be sufficient. The student will have to travel with equipment by car from Coleraine to Dundrum. Public transport is not feasible.
Applications will be considered on a competitive basis with regard to the candidates? qualifications, skills, experience and interests. Successful candidates will enrol as of 1st October 2014, on a full-time programme of research studies leading to the award of the degree of Master of Research.
The studentship will comprise tuition fees (Home/EU) and a ?7,280 maintenance award, which are both funded by Cloughram Crayfish. It will be awarded for a period of one year subject to satisfactory progress.
The closing date for receipt of completed applications is 16th May 2014.
Interviews will be held in late May / early June 2014.
