Postdoctoral Research Assistant in DNA Repair Mechanisms and Human Disease

A postdoctoral position is available in Dr Ivan Ahel’s group at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, University of Oxford to study the cellular and physiological function of enzymes involved in the reversal of ADP-ribosylation signalling. The main focus of the project will be the TARG1 protein, deficiency of which leads to a severe neurodegeneration in humans (Sharifi et al, EMBO J, 2013). The project will involve a combination of cell biology and biochemistry and will be supported by genetic models we have recently developed. The post is available for up to 36 months in the first instance.

Applicants should have a PhD in biology or a related subject. A high level of competence in cell biology is required and relevant experience demonstrated by first author publications in high-profile journals. The ideal candidate should be organised, highly motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
