MTN Foundation MUSON Music Scholarship 2025
The MTN Foundation MUSON Scholarship Program aims to support talented students passionate about music by offering full-time study opportunities at the MUSON School of Music. This initiative targets high-performing students enrolled in Nigerian public tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education) who may face financial challenges in pursuing a music education.
The program is designed to nurture well-rounded, professionally trained musicians, equipping them with the skills needed for direct entry into undergraduate music degree programs or to match the standards of top conservatoires worldwide.
Eligibility Requirements for MTN Foundation MUSON Music Scholarship
To qualify for the 2025 MTN MUSON Music Scholarship, applicants must meet the following:
Academic Requirements:
- A minimum of five (5) credits in GCE O-Level or SSCE, including English Language, obtained in no more than two sittings.
Musical Requirements:
- Practical: Grade 5 or higher in a major instrument or voice from MUSON School of Music or any recognized music examination body.
- Theory: Grade 5 or higher in Music Theory from MUSON or any recognized institution.
Note: Applicants without the required theory certificate but with exceptional practical skills may be admitted conditionally. These students must enroll in a remedial theory course and pass it during their first year.
Program Structure and Scholarship Benefits
Program Duration: 2 years (full-time)
Focus: Advanced diploma in music
Majors Offered: Piano, Organ, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Percussion, Classical Guitar, Voice
Additional Training:
- All students are required to study a minor instrument (outside their major family) for two terms.
- Voice students must pass Grade 2 Piano.
- Instrumentalists must complete vocal technique courses.
- Participation in the Choir is mandatory for all students.
- String majors must join the Orchestra; Wind and Percussion majors must participate in the Band. Non-majors are welcome to audition.

- A written test in Music Theory (Grade 5 standard)

- Successful candidates will be invited to begin the program after the selection process.
