Apply Now: Toriola Stephen Excellence Scholarship for Nigerian Undergraduates
The Toriola Stephen Excellence Scholarship is a merit-based award created to support exceptional Nigerian undergraduate students who demonstrate academic excellence, community involvement, and financial need. The scholarship seeks to empower students who, despite personal or economic challenges, continue to excel academically and make meaningful contributions to their communities.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be an undergraduate student enrolled in a Nigerian tertiary institution approved by the Federal Government.
- Have a minimum GPA/CGPA of 4.0 on a 5.0 scale, or 3.2 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants using other grading systems should convert their scores to the 5.0 scale.
- Priority consideration will be given to:
- Orphans
- Students with a single parent who is a widow or widower
Selection Criteria
Applicants will be evaluated based on:
- Academic performance
- Quality and originality of responses to four essay prompts:
- What makes you unique? (Consider your background, identity, interests, or talents)
- Why do you deserve this scholarship and how will it help you?
- What are your academic and career goals?
- How have you contributed to your community?
Note: The more thoughtful, clear, and expressive your essays, the higher your chances of selection.
Required Documents
Applicants must submit the following as part of their application:
- A typed essay document including:
- Responses to all four questions
- Full personal and academic details
- A valid student ID card (clearly scanned)
- A recent academic result, preferably signed by a lecturer, HOD, or level coordinator
(Optional) Supporting documents that showcase unique qualities or financial need
Scholarship Benefit
- A one-time financial grant of up to ₦50,000 to support educational expenses
