Postholder will be involved in an ARUK funded research project investigating parasitic worms and their secreted immunomodulators and the microbiome.
Postholder will be working within the Immunology research area of the Institute of Infection, Immunity and Inflammation under the supervision of Professor Margaret Harnett (Principal Investigator).
Specifically, this position requires knowledge of immunomodulation, in vivo models of musculosketal disease particularly those representing rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus and the impact of the microbiome.
The successful candidates will also be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals as well as help manage and direct these complex and challenging projects as opportunities allow.
Standard Terms and Conditions
Salary will be on the University’s Research and Teaching Grade, level 6/7, £27,328 - £30,738 / £33,574 - £37,768 per annum, depending on experience.
The funding for this post is for 1 year in the first instance.
New entrants to the University will be required to serve a probationary period of 6 months.
The successful applicant will be eligible to join the Universities' Superannuation Scheme. Further information regarding the scheme is available from the Superannuation Officer, who is also prepared to advise on questions relating to the transfer of Superannuation benefits.
All research and related activities, including grants, donations, clinical trials, contract research, consultancy and commercialisation are required to be managed through the University’s relevant processes (e.g. contractual and financial), in accordance with the University Court’s policies.
