Job Purpose
To contribute to, conduct, and manage research on a Schistosoma mansoni population genetics/genomics project working with Dr Poppy Lamberton on an European Research Council Starting Grant (SCHISTO_PERSIST). The post holder will be based within the Wellcome Trust Centre for Molecular Parasitology (WTCMP) and the Institute of Biodiversity, Animal Health & Comparative Medicine (BAHCM). Specifically the post holder will use population genetic and genomic techniques to assess the key forces driving maintained transmission in S. mansoni hotspots in Uganda to address Who is re-infecting Whom? The post will involve both field work in Uganda and laboratory work in the UK.
Standard Terms & Conditions
Salary will be on the University’s Research and Teaching Grade, level 6/7, £27,328 - £30,738/£33,574 - £37,768 per annum.
This post has funding until 31 October 2019.
New entrants to the University will be required to serve a probationary period of 6 months.
The successful applicant will be eligible to join the Universities' Superannuation Scheme. Further information regarding the scheme is available from the Superannuation Officer, who is also prepared to advise on questions relating to the transfer of Superannuation benefits.
All research and related activities, including grants, donations, clinical trials, contract research, consultancy and commercialisation are required to be managed through the University’s relevant processes (e.g. contractual and financial), in accordance with the University Court’s policies.
