This role supports the research activities within the bioenergy group led by Professor Jenny Jones in the School of Chemical and Process Engineering. Professor Jones’ team is one of the leading groups in Bioenergy research and you will will be involved in all aspects of the research, including project management, expert advice, and student supervision. You will also assist in the direction of research projects within Prof Jones’ research team.
Areas of research include fundamental and applied biomass combustion and its associated problems (milling, ash, NOx, emissions), biomass pre-treatment (e.g. washing or torrefaction), and low temperature ignition risks. You will be adept at both experimental and numerical modelling of aspects of biomass combustion, and will also have experience in the design and development of laboratory-scale test rigs and experimental methods in bioenergy research.
Holding a good undergraduate degree (2:1 or above) in an engineering discipline and a PhD (or close to completion) in Bioenergy, you will be a numerate, practical individual, equally equipped to undertake experimental and modelling research. You will have experience of supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research in bioenergy and will have published in the field. You will have project management experience, as well as good networking skills. You will be self-directing, a good communicator at all levels, and a team player.
