Application of super-resolution microscopy to the study of the hepatitis C virus replication complex.
A post-doctoral position is available in the laboratory of Professor Mark Harris, to apply the recently developed techniques of super-resolution microscopy to study the structure and composition of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) genome replication complex. This post is funded by a Wellcome Trust Investigator Award.
The post will use state-of-the-art facilities and techniques of PALM, STORM and SIM to address the structure of the HCV replication complex, focussing on the NS5A protein, and comparing wildtype to mutants with defined phenotypes. The post will suit individuals with expertise in the practical aspects of data acquisition by super-resolution microscopy, as well as experience in data analysis.
You will have a PhD (or be close to completion) in Virology, Cell Biology or a related discipline. As the work will involve analysis of cells infected with HCV, experience with working at biosafety level 3 is essential. You will join a vibrant research group that is working on both HCV and Chikungunya virus biology.
