Applications are invited for the position of Research Fellow and Laboratory Manager based in the Rheumatology and Bone Disease Unit within the Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine at the Western General Hospital.
The postholder will be responsible for management of the curation of biological samples and clinical data from a range of clinical trials and observational studies that are being carried out within the unit and will contribute to management of other facilities within the unit. The postholder will also be expected to develop an independent programme of research in an area complementary to that ongoing within the unit on the genetic basis of musculoskeletal disease and functional annotation of disease associated polymorphisms and mutations. It is anticipated that the postholder would spend about 50% of their time on research and 50% on other activities.
Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant discipline and at least three years postdoctoral experience in the area of bone disease. Applicants should also have experience in human molecular genetics, genome wide association studies and functional genomics. Candidates should have a track record of publications in a relevant area. Expertise in database design and management, whole animal physiology and cell or molecular biology would be advantageous
