We are looking to recruit an experienced researcher or highly-skilled engineer for a role encompassing research, technical/methods development, and facility support. The successful candidate will undertake independent scientific/technical research into new and improved methods for cryo-electron tomography within the research group of John Briggs. The successful candidate will also implement, optimize and develop methods and instrumentation for cryo-electron tomography within the world-leading electron microscopy facility at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, UK.
The principal aim of John Briggs’ research group is the development and application of electron microscopy methods within a research programme aimed at structural and mechanistic studies of the assembly, maturation and fusion of enveloped viruses and coated vesicles. The principle aim of the EM facility is the development and application of electron cryomicroscopy and tomography in the context of Structural Biology.
The LMB moved into a new building in 2013. The EM facility at LMB includes two Titan Krios microscopes, Polara, Scios dual-beam, two 200kV FEG microscopes and 3 T12/Spirit microscopes.
