Australia Awards Scholarships offer individuals from developing nations, particularly those in the Indo-Pacific region and Africa, the opportunity to pursue full-time undergraduate or postgraduate studies at participating Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions.
Administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, these long-term scholarships support the development goals of Australia’s partner countries, aligning with bilateral and regional agreements.
Through study and research, Australia Awards Scholarships equip recipients with the skills and knowledge needed to drive positive change and contribute to their country's development.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the 2026 Australia Awards Scholarships, applicants must:

Be an international student from a developing country.

Hold citizenship in one of the participating countries.

Meet the specific eligibility requirements outlined for their country.

Sign a contract with the Commonwealth of Australia, agreeing to abide by the scholarship's terms and conditions.

Commit to leaving Australia for at least two years upon completing their scholarship. Failure to do so will result in a financial obligation to repay the total cost of the scholarship.
Scholarship Benefits
Recipients of the Australia Awards Scholarships will receive comprehensive support, which typically includes:

Full tuition coverage at an eligible Australian institution.

Return air travel — a single economy-class airfare to and from Australia via the most direct route.

Establishment allowance — a one-time payment to assist with accommodation, textbooks, and study materials.

Contribution to Living Expenses (CLE) — a fortnightly stipend to help cover basic living costs, determined by the department.

Introductory Academic Program (IAP) — a mandatory pre-course program to prepare scholars for academic and daily life in Australia.

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) — medical insurance for the duration of the scholarship (excluding pre-existing conditions).

Pre-Course English (PCE) fees — if required, funding for English language training either in-country or in Australia.

Supplementary academic support — available when necessary to enhance academic success.

Fieldwork support — for eligible research students and master’s programs with a research component, including one return economy-class airfare to the scholar’s home country or within Australia.
