ARES Scholarships Belgium 2026
The ARES Scholarship offers talented individuals from partner countries the chance to pursue an advanced bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or a 2–6 month continuing education course at a higher education institution within the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, Belgium.
The award covers tuition fees, travel expenses, monthly living allowance, visa application costs, insurance, and other exceptional expenses.
If you are a national of an ARES partner country, hold a higher education degree, and have relevant professional experience, this scholarship offers the opportunity to deepen your expertise in development-related fields.
Eligible study areas include aquaculture, health, food technology, economics, international development, GIS, information technology, agriculture, environment, human rights, microfinance, and more.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a national of, reside in, and work in one of the 31 eligible countries (see list below).
- Hold one of the following:
- A diploma equivalent to a Belgian second-cycle degree (300 ECTS credits) for specialized master’s and continuing education courses.
- A diploma equivalent to a Belgian first-cycle degree (180 ECTS credits) for specialization bachelor’s programmes.
- Have at least two years of relevant professional experience in an ARES partner country.
Scholarship Benefits
- 130 bachelor’s and master’s scholarships.
- 70 continuing education scholarships.
- Covers international travel, living allowance, registration fees, visa costs, and insurance.
Duration: 2–12 months, depending on the programme.

Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Guinea, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, DR Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Zimbabwe.
South America & Caribbean: Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Haiti, Peru.
Southeast Asia: Cambodia, Indonesia, Nepal, Philippines, Vietnam.
Asia: Palestinian territory.
