CLARITY-Africa PhD Scholarship: Fully Funded Opportunity
Applications are now open for the CLARITY-Africa PhD Scholarship, which provides full funding for tuition, research, stipend, travel, and other related expenses. This scholarship offers a unique opportunity for scholars to engage in impactful climate change research focused on heat, flooding, and drought in African cities.
About the Scholarship
The CLARITY-Africa project is a collaborative initiative led by Imperial College London, the University of Ghana, the AIMS Research and Innovation Centre (AIMS RIC), and other top institutions. Successful applicants will pursue their PhD studies at either the University of Ghana or AIMS RIC while contributing to transformative research on climate change and environmental risks.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the CLARITY-Africa PhD Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Nationality: Open to applicants from any African country.

Academic Qualification: Must hold a Master’s degree in a related field, including:

Climate Science

Demography
-
Economics
-
Geography
-
Environmental Science

Public Health
-
Environmental Health
-
Mathematical and Physical Sciences

Research Focus: Applicants must be willing to conduct research aligned with the CLARITY-Africa themes (heat, flooding, and drought in African cities).

Analytical Skills: Familiarity with statistical and analytical methods is an advantage.

Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

Research Potential: Demonstrated research ability through academic performance and relevant research experience.

Current PhD Students: University of Ghana PhD Year 1 students are also eligible to apply.

Statement of Purpose (max 2,000 words) outlining research interests and how the scholarship will support their academic goals.

Two-Page Research Proposal detailing their proposed study.

Complete Academic CV with research experience and publications (if any).
