About the SUIPRES Scholarship
The Swansea University International Postgraduate Research Excellence Scholarship (SUIPRES) is a competitive, merit-based award open to students who:
- Are classified as international students for fee purposes
- Are applying to eligible PhD or Professional Doctorate programs at Swansea University
- Have demonstrated exceptional academic performance in previous studies
The scholarship is applied directly to tuition fees, reducing the total amount payable to the UK (home) rate.
Eligibility Criteria for the SUIPRES Scholarship 2026
To be considered for the SUIPRES scholarship, applicants must:
- Apply for an eligible PhD or Professional Doctorate program at Swansea University. Click here to view eligible courses
- Hold (or expect to achieve) a First Class or Upper Second Class (2:1) UK undergraduate degree, or an equivalent international qualification
- OR hold (or expect to achieve) a Distinction in a UK Master's degree or equivalent international qualification
- Be classified as an international student and subject to the international tuition fee rate
Important notes:
- The scholarship is not available to current PhD/Professional Doctorate students (including returning or transferring students)
- Master’s-level courses are not eligible
- Students fully sponsored by third parties are not eligible for SUIPRES
Scholarship Value and Duration
The scholarship covers the difference between international and home tuition fee rates for the full duration of the program.
Recipients will pay the UK tuition rate:
- £4,786 for 2024/25
- £5,006 for 2025/26
(Subject to annual increases in line with UKRI guidelines, typically around 3%)
