The Danish Diabetes and Endocrine Academy (DDEA) — Industrial PhD Scholarships Call
The Danish Diabetes and Endocrine Academy (DDEA) is offering up to three Industrial PhD Scholarships, each partially funded (2/3-financed) and valued at DKK 1,100,000 (approximately €147,000 / $159,000). These scholarships are designed to support collaborative research projects in diabetes, metabolism, and endocrinology, connecting academic excellence with innovation in Denmark's life science industry.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must hold a Master’s degree from a Danish or equivalent foreign university by the application deadline.
- Must not be enrolled in any PhD program as of 26 November 2025.
- Must submit a research proposal that demonstrates collaboration between academia and industry.
- The principal supervisor must be a professor or associate professor at a Danish university.
- A co-supervisor from the life-science industry is highly encouraged.
Selection Criteria
Applications will be evaluated based on:
- Strength of international collaboration
- Degree of interdisciplinary integration
- Quality of cross-sector collaboration
- Inclusion of patient and/or public involvement (PPI)
- Shortlisted candidates will be assessed on both the academic merit and the collaborative impact of their proposed project.
Award Benefits
- DKK 1,100,000 in total funding per scholarship
- Covers two years of salary and tuition fees during a three-year PhD period
- The remaining one-third of funding must be provided by an industry partner
