MTN Scholarship Scheme – Empowering Nigerian Students Since 2010
The MTN Scholarship Scheme, a flagship program of the MTN Foundation, has been supporting eligible undergraduate students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions since 2010.
Scholarship Categories & Benefits
- MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (Since 2010)
- Open to eligible 200 and 300-level students in Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
- 300 successful students receive ₦300,000 annually until graduation, provided they maintain the required grades.
- MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (Launched in 2012)
- Available to 200 and 300-level visually impaired students studying any course in Nigerian public tertiary institutions.
- 60 successful blind students receive ₦200,000 annually until graduation, based on academic performance.
- Top 10 UTME Scholarship (Introduced in 2020)
- Automatically awarded to the top 10 highest-scoring UTME candidates as announced by JAMB.
- Recipients receive ₦300,000 annually from 100 level through graduation, provided they maintain the required grades.
MTN Scholarship 2025 – Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the MTN Scholarship for Undergraduates 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:
General Eligibility
- Available to Nigerian students enrolled in public tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education).
- MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS) is open to 300-level students.
- MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS) is open to 200 & 300-level blind students.
- Blind students studying Law (a 5-year course) can only apply in 300 level.
- Top 10 UTME candidates (as announced by JAMB) will receive a scholarship from 100 level through graduation, provided they maintain the required grades.
CGPA Requirements
- MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS)
- STEM students in public universities and colleges of education must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0/4 or 3.5/5 (Second Class Upper).
- STEM students in public polytechnics must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (Upper Credit) from their Ordinary National Diploma (OND) and must have gained admission into the Higher National Diploma (HND) program.
- Direct Entry STEM students must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (Upper Credit) from their OND program and must have secured admission into 300 level (third year) in a public university.
- MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS)
- Blind students in universities or colleges of education must have a minimum CGPA of 2.5.
- Blind students in public polytechnics must have a minimum CGPA of 2.0 from their OND program and must have gained admission into the HND program.
