QEII-GSST-Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarships
The Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology (QEII-GSST) Program is a merit based scholarship program designed to support students in science and technology at the master’s and doctoral levels. Particular interest is paid to students graduate students in science and technology conducting research as part of their graduate studies.The government of Canada in partnership with participating schools in Ontario contributes two-thirds of the value of the QEII-GSST scholarship awards and the university provides the remaining one-third. This year, Ontario provided about $5 million towards these scholarships and the participating schools provided $2.5 million. QEII-GSST awards are based on the number of your consecutive terms of studies within an academic year:- $10,000 for 2 consecutive terms of study
- $15,000 for 3 consecutive terms of study
Elibility for QEII-GSST-Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarships
In order to be eligible for the QEII-GSST-Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarships:- You’ll be in graduate studies in the master’s or doctoral level
- You’ll be enrolled in a full-time program for 2 or more terms (21 to 52 weeks in total) for the academic you’re submitting your application.
- You’ll be attending a participating Ontario school
- You must be a Canadian/Permanent resident

University of Waterloo deadline/requirements for QEII-GSST-Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarships
Deadline
- October 14, every year for international students (only for students currently registered in a graduate program at Waterloo). Note: If you anticipate receiving PR status prior to February 1, 2017, please contact the Coordinator, Graduate Financial Aid & Awards.
- February 1, every year for Canadian citizens/Permanent Residents (for current and prospective students).
- Be registered full-time in a graduate degree program; students who can only register part-time because of permanent disabilities may still be eligible. Note: to be considered for QEII-GSST, applicants must be enrolled in or plan to register in a research-based master’s or doctoral program in a STEM discipline.
- Have achieved a first-class average, (minimum of A-/80%)*, in EACH of the last two full-time academic years (eligibility averages are based on grades up to August 31, 2016).
