You will be part of the Complement Therapeutics Centre based within the Institute of Cellular Medicine. The group focuses on understanding the role of the complement system in health and disease. You will be a highly motivated individual who will provide technical support in the analysis of therapeutic complement proteins for use in experiments designed to understand their utility in the treatment of age-related macular degeneration or in a second project to enhance immune response in vaccination.
You will have a BSc in a biochemistry/immunology related subject. You must have demonstrable knowledge of ELISA, western blotting and immunohistochemistry. Experience of mammalian cell culture and protein purification (preferably using AKTA) is also essential. Experience with comparative modelling will be a distinct advantage.
The ability to aid in the experimental design, planning and progress of work is also required.
This post is tenable for 18 months, working 18.5 hours per week (0.5 FTE).
