Afrika Kommt is a program designed for exceptional young African professionals who are eager to broaden their skills, knowledge, and experience, and are ready to step out of their comfort zones to achieve this.
The program aims to empower young leaders to drive economic and social development in their home countries by fostering sustainable cooperation with German industries.
The Afrika Kommt Program fully covers all costs related to training, accommodation, living expenses, and travel during the academic period.
Eligibility Requirements for the 2025 Afrika Kommt Fellowship
To be eligible for the Afrika Kommt Fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Be a citizen of an African country

Hold a university degree in a relevant field

Postgraduate studies (e.g., MBA) are an advantage

Have two to five years of relevant work experience

Demonstrate excellent proficiency in English

Basic knowledge of German is a plus

Be no older than 35 years
Benefits of the Afrika Kommt Fellowship
The fellowship offers the following benefits:

A one-year visa for Germany

Round-trip airfare from your home country to Germany and back

A monthly living allowance of €900 for months 1-3 and month 12
-
A monthly salary of approximately €1,500 gross during the internship with partner companies

A one-off relocation fee of €1,000 for settling back into your home country

Accommodation in Germany during all stages of the program, including utilities (internet, electricity, water, etc.)

Health insurance during months 1-3 and month 12

Accident and liability insurance

Two certificates:

An official certificate upon successful program completion, detailing the training content

A certificate from the Academy for International Cooperation of GIZ GmbH for completing the professional training in the "International Competence Development Journal."
How to Apply for the Afrika Kommt Fellowship 2025 (Step-by-Step Guide)

STEP 1: Review the general candidate requirements to ensure you meet the criteria and are eligible for the program.
STEP 2: Check the available fellowship placements and the required profiles for the new intake of AFRIKA KOMMT! These placements will only be available during the application phase. While your application will be considered for the entire AFRIKA KOMMT! program, you are asked to select up to two profiles in the application form and provide reasons for your choices.
STEP 3: Register and complete the application form in English. Applications submitted in other languages will not be considered. Along with the form, you will need to upload:
