The Higher Education Authority (HEA) is delighted to announce the 2025 Call for Applications under the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships Programme. This initiative offers several scholarships, each valued at €10,000, for one year of study at the Diploma, Master's, or PhD level. To be eligible, candidates must have an offer of admission from a recognized Irish higher education institution.
The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship is managed by the Higher Education Authority (HEA), on behalf of the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science.
Following a competitive process based on an annual call for proposals from individual applicants, the HEA will approve a defined number of scholarships under the scheme to successful applicants.
Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships will be awarded to high calibre students from non-EU/EEA countries to study full-time in Ireland for a period of one year.
Ireland International Education Scholarship Requirements
To be eligible for the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship (GOI-IES), applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Residency: Applicants must be domiciled outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
- Program Application: Candidates must apply for admission to a relevant Master's, Postgraduate Diploma, or PhD program at an eligible Irish higher education institution, following the institution’s admission procedures.
- Admission Offer: Applicants must have a conditional or final offer of admission at the time of application and must submit proof of the offer.
- Previous Recipients: Individuals who have previously been awarded a GOI-IES scholarship are not eligible to apply.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful candidates will receive:
- A €10,000 stipend for one year of study.
- A full waiver of tuition and other registration fees at the chosen higher education institution.
How to Apply for the Ireland International Education Scholarship
- Review Eligibility: Applicants should carefully read the call documentation to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria before applying.
- Online Submission: Applications should be submitted via the online portal
- Reference Letters: Each application must include two references, which applicants must upload via the online portal.
- Early Submission: Candidates are strongly encouraged to apply well before the deadline to avoid potential technical issues caused by high server traffic.
- Final Submission: Once the deadline has passed, applications will no longer be accepted. Additionally, no changes can be made after submission.
