University of Kent Alumni Postgraduate Research Scholarship 2025
The University of Kent is offering fully funded Alumni Postgraduate Research Scholarships for students pursuing doctoral research programs. Applications for the 2025 scholarship intake are now open.
Established in 1995, this scholarship has been awarded annually and is funded entirely by contributions from alumni and friends of the University. This scholarship is open to University of Kent alumni from any academic discipline.Selection is based on academic excellence, achievements in the chosen field, communication skills, and contributions to the University community.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the University of Kent Alumni Postgraduate Research Scholarship, applicants must:
- Hold, or be expected to hold, a Bachelor’s degree (1st or 2:1) or a Master’s degree (merit or distinction) from the University of Kent.
- Have an offer for a full-time or part-time PhD research degree at the University of Kent for the 2025/26 academic year.
- Demonstrate contributions to the University community, such as involvement in Students’ Union activities, societies, sports, volunteering, or serving as a student representative on University committees.
- Possess strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to:
- Clearly explain their research to non-experts.
- Convey passion for their research to a wider audience.
- Highlight the broader significance of their research.
- Act as an ambassador for both the University and their academic field.
- Be available for a video interview on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
- Be an undergraduate applying to study at any University of Kent campus (Canterbury, Medway, or Paris).
Scholarship Benefits
The Alumni Postgraduate Research Scholarship covers:
- Tuition fees at the home rate (£4,786 for 2024/25).
- A maintenance grant equivalent to UK Research Council funding (£19,237 for 2024/25).
Required Documents
Applicants must submit the following:
- A CV detailing academic and extracurricular achievements.
- A supporting statement (maximum two A4 pages; exceeding this limit will result in disqualification).
- An academic reference supporting the research project (to be provided if shortlisted in the first round).
