The Hubei Provincial Foreign Student Scholarship is a government-funded initiative aimed at supporting outstanding international students who wish to pursue higher education or research in Hubei Province, China. The scholarship helps cover tuition fees and is available for various academic levels and study durations.
Scholarship Categories & Amounts
The scholarship offers different funding levels based on the program of study:
- Undergraduate Program: ¥10,000 RMB per year
- Master’s Program: ¥15,000 RMB per year
- Doctoral Program: ¥20,000 RMB per year
- General Scholars: ¥5,000 RMB (6 months) / ¥10,000 RMB (1 year)
- Advanced Scholars: ¥10,000 RMB (6 months) / ¥20,000 RMB (1 year)
Note: Funding may vary based on specific agreements with foreign governments.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport and a positive attitude toward China
- Be in good health, have strong academic performance, and demonstrate good conduct
- Additional requirements based on program level:
- Undergraduate: Under 25 years old with a high school diploma
- Master’s: Under 30 years old with a bachelor’s degree
- Doctoral: Under 35 years old with a master’s degree
- General Scholars: Under 40, with a high school diploma or higher (varies by study type)
- Advanced Scholars: Under 50, with a master’s degree and associate professor title or higher
Required Documents
Applicants must prepare the following:
- Hubei Scholarship Application Form (Form 1 for new students, Form 2 for current students)
- Passport copy
- Notarized highest academic diploma
- Academic transcript or job title certificate
- Letters of recommendation
- Medical examination/health certificate
- Other materials as required by the chosen university
Selection Process
- Applications are evaluated by the university’s scholarship committee.
- Shortlisted results are posted publicly by the university for one week.
- Final reviews and approvals are made by the Hubei Provincial Department of Education, which also publishes the final list of awardees.
Scholarship Duration
Undergraduate, Master’s, Doctorate: 1 academic year
General and Advanced Scholars: 6 months or 1 year, depending on the awarded amount.
How to Apply
- Application period: February to June
- Applications must be submitted directly to the participating university in Hubei Province
- Each university handles its application process and forwards recommended candidates to the provincial education department for final approval
