The Mastercard Foundation Scholarship at KNUST (Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology) aims to provide academically talented but economically disadvantaged young individuals from Ghana and across Africa with access to quality education. The program empowers scholars to give back to their communities and drive positive change.
This scholarship is a collaborative initiative between KNUST and the Mastercard Foundation, headquartered in Toronto, Canada.
Program Overview
The scholarship aims to train a total of 2,250 scholars over a 15-year period:

Phase I (2014–2019): 750 scholars trained.

Phase II (2019–2029): 1,500 scholars to be trained.
Through this initiative, scholars will gain the skills and knowledge needed to transform their communities and contribute to Africa’s development.
Eligibility Requirements for the 2025 KNUST Mastercard Foundation Scholarship
To be eligible for the KNUST Mastercard Foundation Scholarship, applicants must:

Possess a valid and authentic WASSCE, GBCE, ABCE, GCE O Level, A Level, or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution. Results must be no more than five years old (Awaiting results are NOT accepted).

Meet the admission requirements of KNUST.

Demonstrate critical economic need.

Show proven leadership skills and community engagement.

NOT be currently enrolled in any tertiary institution.

Be committed to the Go-Back, Give-Back principle—using their education to benefit their community.
Priority Consideration Given To:

Female applicants.

Displaced individuals (Refugees, Internally Displaced Persons, etc.).

Persons with disabilities.
