University of Alberta Entrance Scholarship for Graduate Students
The University of Alberta is inviting applications from both domestic and international students for its Entrance Scholarship, offering a valuable opportunity to pursue graduate studies in Canada.
This scholarship is designed to support newly admitted graduate students whose admission applications have been highly ranked by their academic department. Administered by the Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies (GPS), the award provides financial assistance to help ease the cost of tuition and other study-related expenses.
Successful applicants will receive funding that may cover tuition fees and additional costs, allowing them to focus on their academic and research goals at one of Canada’s leading universities.
Eligibility Requirements for the University of Alberta Entrance Scholarship 2025
To be considered for the University of Alberta Entrance Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Must be newly admitted to a master’s or doctoral program at the University of Alberta.

Open to both domestic and international students.

Available to students in course-based or thesis-based programs.

Must have an admission GPA of 3.7 or higher.

Must be registered as a full-time student during the entire duration of the award.

The scholarship is tenable from September 1, 2025, to August 31, 2026, regardless of the student’s admission term.

Eligible admission terms include: January 2025, May 2025, July 2025, and September 2025.
Scholarship Benefits
Stipend:

$17,500 for Master’s students

$21,000 for Doctoral students
(Note: Recipients must have a Canadian bank account and Canadian address to receive the funds.)
Tuition and Fees Support:

Domestic students: Additional $7,100
-
International students: Additional $10,000
These funds will be applied directly to the student's tuition and fee account.
