Who Can Apply for the University of Essex Africa Postgraduate Scholarship?
To be eligible for the Africa Postgraduate Scholarship 2025–26 at the University of Essex, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Be classified as an overseas fee payer and be entirely self-funded (students receiving repayable loans will still be considered self-funded).

Be ordinarily resident in a country that is a member of the African Union.

Hold an undergraduate degree (including integrated Master’s degrees) with the required minimum grade.
Please note: Postgraduate qualifications (other than integrated Master’s) cannot be used to meet this requirement. A higher Master’s grade will not compensate for a lower Bachelor’s grade.

Be applying to start the first year of a full-time taught Master’s program (MA, MSc, LLM, MFA, MPP, or MBM) at the University of Essex in October 2025 or January 2026.

The scholarship is only applicable to the first year of study.

Applicants must not hold any other University of Essex scholarship. If eligible for more than one award (including link agreements with discounted fees), the higher value award will apply.

Applicants should be willing to participate in University promotional activities if selected.
