University of University of Sheffield Sanctuary Scholarship 2025 (Fully Funded)
The University of Sheffield Sanctuary Scholarship offers a fully funded opportunity for international students who have sought asylum in the UK. For 2025 entry, the scholarship covers full tuition fees and provides an annual living allowance of £10,300 throughout your course of study.
This scholarship is aimed at students who have been displaced by conflict or other crises and are seeking refuge in the UK. Please note that you must begin your studies at Sheffield in 2025 — deferrals are not allowed. The scholarship funds will be disbursed after you have arrived in Sheffield and completed your registration.
Eligibility Criteria for the 2025 Sanctuary Scholarship:
To apply, you must meet the following conditions:
- You have been granted humanitarian protection or limited leave to remain in the UK, or are a dependent/partner of someone with this status; OR
- You or your parent/guardian/partner are an asylum seeker who has applied for refugee status in the UK and are awaiting a Home Office decision.
- You applied for asylum upon arriving in the UK, before applying to university.
- You are currently attending a school, college, or community/voluntary group that can provide a supporting reference.
- You hold an offer to study an undergraduate or postgraduate taught course at the University of Sheffield starting in September 2025. (If your offer includes a foundation or conversion course, please contact the university to confirm your eligibility.)
- You do not already hold a qualification at the same or a higher level than the course you are applying for. (Contact the Student Fees and Funding Team if you have previously withdrawn from a course.)
- You are not receiving any other University of Sheffield scholarships or bursaries, such as the Experience Sheffield Scholarship or Sheffield Postgraduate Scholarship.
- You are not eligible for UK government student funding, such as Student Finance England support.
