The WIPO Academy Scholarship is a prestigious initiative by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), developed in collaboration with several of its member states, particularly from the developing world. This fully funded Master’s scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation, living expenses, and airfare, and is aimed at strengthening human capacity in the field of Intellectual Property (IP)—a critical driver of innovation and creativity.
Offered in partnership with the WIPO Academy, the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO), and Africa University in Mutare, Zimbabwe, this Master’s program receives generous financial support from the Government of Japan.
The curriculum blends theoretical foundations and doctrinal principles of IP law with practical, hands-on training in key areas of the field.
As WIPO’s hub for IP education, the WIPO Academy serves as a center of excellence in training, skills development, and capacity-building, with a particular focus on supporting developing countries, least-developed countries (LDCs), and nations in transition.
Eligibility Requirements for the WIPO Academy Scholarship 2025
To qualify for the World Intellectual Property Forum Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a national of an African country
- Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree (minimum of Second Class Lower) from a recognized university, in any discipline
- Demonstrate fluency in English
- Have successfully completed the DL-101 course (WIPO’s free introductory course on intellectual property)
