Research Opportunities in the Goldar Lab
Graduate positions are available in the Goldar Lab within the School of Biological Sciences, with start dates in Spring, Summer, or Fall 2026. The lab’s research focuses on how chemical ecology, environmental gradients, and climate change influence plant-insect interactions.
The lab applies classic hypotheses from Plant Defense Theory to explore how these interactions vary by plant organ across environments. The goal is to predict changes in the performance and interaction of plants and insects under multiple global change stressors. Research methods include greenhouse, laboratory, and field experiments, incorporating biotic interactions with herbivores and pollinators.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Illinois State University Graduate Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be highly motivated PhD or MSc candidates.
- Hold a degree in Biology or a related field with a strong interest in evolutionary ecology.
- Be proficient in spoken and written English.
- Experience in plant or insect biology, chemical ecology, population genetics/genomics, or statistical analysis is highly desirable.
