Utah State University Master’s Scholarship 2025 | Fully Funded Two-Year Program in the USA
Applications are now open for the prestigious Utah State University (USU) Master’s Scholarship 2025. This fully funded opportunity offers a two-year graduate assistantship for a motivated student to join a multidisciplinary research team in the Wildlife Eco-Epidemiology Lab at the Department of Veterinary and Clinical Life Sciences, Utah State University, USA.
This role focuses primarily on data management and analysis, with some potential for fieldwork, and provides hands-on research experience in collaboration with academic experts, state wildlife agencies, and community stakeholders.
Research Focus
The selected student will:

Lead a study on historical patterns and causes of waterfowl mortality around the Great Salt Lake, using necropsy and other existing datasets.

Support a postdoc-led project on avian botulism, contributing to the development of surveillance and response strategies.
-
Assist in integrating historical datasets on bird populations and lake hydrology, and develop epidemiologic models to identify risk factors and inform wildlife management efforts.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the Utah State University Master’s Scholarship 2025, applicants must:
Minimum Requirements:

Hold a Bachelor’s degree in epidemiology, disease ecology, wildlife biology, biological sciences, or a related field.

Demonstrate strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

Be able to work with diverse stakeholder groups.
-
Be familiar with safety procedures in laboratory and field research environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in epidemiology, wildlife biology, quantitative ecology, population modeling, or remote sensing/GIS.

Skills in handling and sampling live or deceased animals, including research in BSL-2+ laboratory settings.

Demonstrated research experience and strong writing ability.
