Ireland Fellows Programme 2026 – Fully Funded Master’s Scholarship for African Professionals
The Ireland Fellows Programme offers early to mid-career professionals from eligible African countries the opportunity to pursue a fully funded, one-year master’s degree at a recognized higher education institution in Ireland.
Funded by the Government of Ireland, the programme aims to develop future leaders, strengthen in-country capacity to achieve national Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and foster long-term personal and professional connections with Ireland.
Selected fellows receive support for tuition fees, flights, accommodation, and living expenses, enabling them to gain a world-class education and return home equipped to make meaningful contributions in their sectors and communities.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Ireland Fellows Programme – Africa 2026, applicants must:

Be a resident national of one of the following countries:
Angola, Burundi, DRC, Djibouti, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe

Have 2–3 years of relevant work experience, depending on your country’s specific requirements

Hold a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (First Class or Second Class Honours), awarded in 2013 or later

Not already hold or be currently enrolled in a master’s or higher-level qualification

Intend to begin a new master's programme in Ireland in August 2025

Programme Duration & Benefits
Duration: 10 to 16 months, depending on the chosen course

Stage 3: Interview
English Language Tests:
After Stage 2, selected applicants must take the Duolingo English Test online
If shortlisted after interviews, candidates must take the IELTS exam (unless they already hold a valid IELTS certificate from 2022 or later with the required score)
Applicants are strongly encouraged to begin preparing for the IELTS exam early—even native English speakers.
