Eligibility Criteria for KAAD Scholarship 2026
Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Be a citizen of a developing or emerging country in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, or Latin America, and currently reside there.

Hold a university degree and demonstrate professional experience in their home country.

Intend to pursue a Master’s or Ph.D. degree at a German university, or conduct a postdoctoral research project (2–6 months for established lecturers).

Be a Catholic Christian (or belong to another Christian denomination). Applicants from other religions may apply if nominated by Catholic partners and demonstrate a genuine commitment to interreligious dialogue.

Possess German language proficiency before commencing studies (KAAD may sponsor a preparatory language course of up to 6 months in Germany).
