Types of Scholarships Available
Research Scholarships
For postgraduate researchers in any field (minimum: Master’s degree) intending to pursue a PhD, postdoctoral research, or a research fellowship in Switzerland.
Art Scholarships
For students wishing to pursue an initial Master's degree in arts at eligible Swiss institutions.
(Note: Art scholarships are available only to applicants from selected countries.)

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the 2026 Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship, applicants must:

Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (depending on the scholarship type)

Be born on or after 1 January 1990 (under 35 years old)

Show strong academic performance and research/artistic potential

Be proficient in the language of instruction (French, German, Italian, or English)

Be planning to study in Switzerland at a recognized institution in an eligible field
Selection Criteria
Applications will be evaluated in two phases:

Preliminary selection by your home country’s relevant authorities or the Swiss embassy

Final selection by the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS) in Switzerland
Selection is based on:

The quality and feasibility of the proposed project

Potential for future collaboration between the applicant’s home country and Switzerland
Duration of Scholarship
Scholarships cover the entire study or research duration as outlined by the Swiss institution (typically 1–3 years)
