Federal Government Scholarship Award 2025/2026 – Now Open for Nigerian Students
The Federal Ministry of Education, Nigeria has officially announced the Federal Government Scholarship Award for the 2025/2026 academic session. This fully-funded scholarship is open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in Nigerian public or private universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
Selected scholars will receive a renewable cash award of ₦300,000 per annum, regardless of their background, state, or religion.
Who Can Apply?
Nigerian undergraduate and postgraduate students in recognized institutions across the country.
Candidates must be ready to participate in the Nomination Computer-Based Test (CBT) organized by the Federal Scholarship Board (FSB).
About the Federal Scholarship Board (FSB)
Under the leadership of the Honourable Minister of Education, Prof. Maman Tahir, the FSB is committed to:
- Awarding both local and international scholarships to deserving Nigerian students.
- Managing scholarships under the Multilateral Education Agreements, Bilateral Education Agreements (BEA), and Education Bursary Awards.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Federal Government Scholarship Award, applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Be a registered full-time student at a recognized Federal or State University, Polytechnic, Monotechnic, or College of Education.
- Postgraduate applicants must possess a minimum of a Second Class Honours (Lower Division) in their first degree.
- Undergraduate, HND, and NCE applicants must be in their second year or above of study.
- Must have a minimum CGPA of 4.0 on a 5.0 scale (or 5.0 on a 7.0 scale) for Undergraduate, HND & NCE students.
- NCE/HND applicants should have at least a CGPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Applicants must not be holding another scholarship award simultaneously.
- The award is not applicable to part-time students.
- Course or institution changes are not allowed while enjoying the scholarship.
Scholarship Duration & Reward
The scholarship is tenable only in Nigeria and takes effect from the start of the academic session.
Annual Scholarship Value by Category:
- Undergraduate Students: ₦250,000
- Postgraduate Students: ₦300,000
- HND & NCE Students: ₦150,000 each
