The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) invites applications annually for the GIST Scholarship, offering international students the opportunity to study in Asia. This fully funded scholarship covers tuition, travel expenses, health insurance, and stipends for incoming Master’s and Ph.D. students pursuing their studies in South Korea.
Applications are now open for the Fall 2025 intake.
The GIST Scholarship 2025 is available for Master’s, Master’s leading to Ph.D., and Doctoral degree programs.
Eligibility Requirements for the GIST Scholarship
To be eligible for the GIST Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be either a domestic or international student
- Hold a bachelor’s degree
- Meet the English or Korean language requirements of the university
Benefits of the GIST Scholarship 2025
The GIST Scholarship provides comprehensive financial support, including:
- Full tuition coverage: 3,607,000 KRW per semester
- Monthly stipend for international students:
- M.S. students: 140,000 KRW per month
- Ph.D. students: 295,000 KRW per month
- Meal allowance: Approximately 100,000 KRW per month (applicable only to students who have completed at least 9 credits in the previous semester)
- International student allowance: 120,000 KRW per month
- Research stipend for students participating in research projects:
- M.S. students: 6,400,000 KRW per year
- Ph.D. students: 13,740,000 KRW per year
- Housing support for all students
- Health insurance coverage for all international students
- Annual medical checkup
- Flight reimbursement for all incoming international students

- English proficiency test score (Applicants may be allowed to submit an English proficiency letter and receive conditional admission.)
