Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB) Scholarship – Study in Indonesia
The Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of Indonesia proudly continues the Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB) Scholarship program, designed to support students from developing countries in pursuing a Master’s degree at Indonesian universities.
The KNB Scholarship is a prestigious initiative by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia, offering international students from developing nations the opportunity to study for Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees at top Indonesian universities.

Eligibility Criteria for the Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB) Scholarship
Bachelor’s Degree Applicants
- Must be 25 years old or younger.
- Must hold a high school diploma (submit scanned certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa).
- Bachelor’s degree holders are not eligible for this scholarship.
- Must have an English proficiency test score of:
- IBT TOEFL: 80
- IELTS: 6.0
- TOEIC: 700
(Test certificate must be obtained within the last two years).
- Provide a recommendation letter from:
- The Indonesian Embassy or Consulate General.
- Employer or immediate supervisor.
- Previous school (academic recommendation letter).
- Submit proof of citizenship (official passport or national ID).
- Complete the online application at http://knb.kemdikbud.go.id.
Master’s Degree Applicants
- Must be 35 years old or younger.
- Must hold a bachelor’s degree (submit scanned certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa).
- Master’s degree holders are not eligible for this scholarship.
- Must have an English proficiency test score of:
- IBT TOEFL: 80
- IELTS: 6.0
- TOEIC: 700
(Test certificate must be obtained within the last two years).
- Provide a recommendation letter from:
- The Indonesian Embassy or Consulate General.
- Employer or immediate supervisor.
- Previous school (academic recommendation letter).
- Submit proof of citizenship (official passport or national ID).
- Complete the online application at http://knb.kemdikbud.go.id.
Doctoral Degree Applicants
- Must be 40 years old or younger.
- Must hold a master’s degree (submit scanned certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa).
- Doctorate degree holders are not eligible for this scholarship.
- Obtain a recommendation letter from a potential research supervisor at a partner university of the KNB Scholarship.
- Provide a statement of purpose, including:
- Reasons for studying in Indonesia.
- Research interests and chosen topic.
- Academic and professional goals (dissertation proposal).
- Must have an English proficiency test score of:
- IBT TOEFL: 90
- IELTS: 7.0
(Test certificate must be obtained within the last two years).
- Provide a recommendation letter from:
- The Indonesian Embassy or Consulate General.
- Employer or direct supervisor.
- Previous university.
- Submit proof of citizenship (official passport or national ID).
- Complete the online application at http://knb.kemdikbud.go.id.

How to Apply for the KNB Scholarship
To complete your application, you must submit the following documents:
- Scanned copy of Passport ID page or Citizenship ID
- Scanned copy of Academic/Degree Certificate(s) (High School)
- Scanned copy of Academic Transcript(s) (High School)
- Letter of Recommendation from the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate General
- Letter of Recommendation from your Employer or Immediate Supervisor
- Letter of Academic Recommendation from your previous school
- English Proficiency Test Certificate with one of the following minimum scores:
- IBT TOEFL: 80
- IELTS: 6.0
- TOEIC: 700
