- Graduate Diploma of Research (Domestic & International Students)
- Master of Research (MRes) (Domestic & International Students)
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) (Domestic & International Students)
- Combined Master of Research and PhD (MRes + PhD) (Domestic Students)
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the Macquarie University Graduate Research Scholarship, applicants must:
- Meet the minimum entry requirements for their chosen graduate research program.

- Be assessed based on academic merit and research experience.
- Align their proposed research topic with Macquarie University’s research priorities and have a strong supervisory team.
- Meet specific eligibility criteria for research pathway scholarships, designed to support students progressing through Macquarie's research programs.
Scholarship Benefits
Recipients of the Macquarie University Graduate Research Scholarship may receive:
- Tuition fee offset
- Living allowance (stipend) of $38,500 per annum
- Top-up living allowance (additional funding on top of the base stipend)
- Fixed sum or one-off payment
- Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) and/or visa application support for international students.
How to Apply for the 2025 Macquarie University Graduate Research Scholarship
To apply for the 2025 Macquarie University Graduate Research Scholarship, follow the steps below based on your applicant status:
For New Applicants:
- Complete the combined course and scholarship application via the Online Application System.
- Arrange for two academic referees to submit their reports to the Graduate Research Academy.
- Provide the scholarship reference number in the designated field under scholarship details.
For Current Macquarie University PhD Students or Offer Holders:
(Applicants who have already commenced a Macquarie PhD program in Session 2, 2025, or received a valid offer within the last six months.)
- Download the guidelines for submitting a Scholarship-Only application.
- Complete and submit the online Graduate Research Scholarship-Only application form along with supporting documents.
- Include the scholarship reference number in the scholarship details section.
