University of Oxford Rhodes Scholarship 2025 – Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Rhodes Scholarship 2025, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Nationality / Citizenship
- You may apply for the Global Rhodes Scholarship only if you're not eligible under any of the existing Rhodes constituencies.
- If you have a strong connection to a Rhodes constituency but do not meet its eligibility criteria, you should explore the inter-jurisdictional application option before applying as a global candidate.
Age
Applicants must meet one of the following age criteria:
Standard Age Group:
Be aged 18–24 as of 1 October 2025
(Born between 2 October 1999 and 1 October 2006)
For Professional Degree Holders (e.g. Medicine, Dentistry, Law, Engineering):
Be aged 18–25 as of 1 October 2025
(Born between 2 October 1998 and 1 October 2006)
For Older Candidates (who completed their first degree later than usual):
Be under the age of 27 as of 1 October 2025
(Born after 1 October 1998)
AND must have completed their first undergraduate degree on or after 1 October 2024.
Academic Achievement
- You must have completed (or be in the final year of) an undergraduate degree, typically a Bachelor’s degree.
- Due to the competitive nature of Oxford admissions, a First Class Honours degree or equivalent will significantly enhance your chances.
English Language Proficiency
- You must meet the University of Oxford’s Higher Level English language requirements.
- Exceptions: If English is your first language and you are a citizen and primary resident of a majority English-speaking country, you may be exempt.
