Are you an aspiring research leader passionate about driving the UK’s metals and industrial sectors into the digital age? Applications are now open for the 2025 cohort of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Digital Transformation of the Metals Industry (DigitalMetal CDT).
The DigitalMetal CDT offers 14 fully funded PhD studentships, designed to equip the next generation of leaders with cutting-edge expertise in digital manufacturing and metallurgy. This prestigious programme is a collaboration between the University of Leicester (lead institution), University of Birmingham, Loughborough University, University of Nottingham, and University of Warwick.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the DigitalMetal CDT PhD studentship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Hold at least a UK 2:1 Bachelor's degree or a pass at the Master’s level (or international equivalent).

International students are eligible for select projects—please confirm availability with the relevant supervisor.

EU applicants with settled or pre-settled status must provide a share code as proof.

Applicants applying from outside the UK must be able to cover visa and associated costs (approximately £2,500).
