The University of Melbourne is now accepting applications for its prestigious 2025 Human Rights Scholarship. This fully funded opportunity is open to domestic and international students pursuing a Master’s or Doctoral research degree focused on Human Rights.

The scholarship aims to support academically outstanding candidates who demonstrate a deep commitment to the advancement of human rights through academic research and practical engagement.

Scholarship Coverage

Successful recipients of the University of Melbourne Human Rights Scholarship will receive:

Annual living allowance of $43,500 AUD (2025 full-time study rate), for:

Up to 2 years (Master’s by Research)
Up to 3.5 years (Doctoral degree)

Full tuition fee offset for the standard duration of your research program
Relocation grant:

$2,000 AUD for students relocating from other Australian states/territories
$3,000 AUD for students relocating from outside Australia

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for international students requiring a student visa
Access to paid sick leave, parental leave, and maternity leave, where applicable

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the 2025 Human Rights Scholarship, applicants must:

Have applied for or meet the entry requirements of a Master’s or Doctorate by research program at the University of Melbourne, commencing in 2025
Intend to pursue graduate research specifically in the field of Human Rights
Not have completed a previous graduate research qualification at the same or higher level
Not have previously received a University of Melbourne graduate research scholarship
