The Durham University Hatfield Lioness Scholarship provides funding that covers the full payment of University tuition fees, stipend for living expenses, flight and visa costs, and accommodation at Hatfield College.
Hatfield College is proud to offer the Lioness Scholarship to an outstanding female student who possesses the academic abilities and personal qualities needed to thrive in a postgraduate program.
The purpose of the Hatfield Lioness Scholarship is to provide an opportunity for a female student from a developing country with limited access to tertiary education, allowing her to pursue postgraduate studies at Durham University.
Launched in 2018 to celebrate 30 years of female students at Hatfield College, the scholarship is generously funded by alumni, friends of the College, and other supporters who align with the scholarship’s mission.
Requirements for the 2025 Durham University Hatfield Lioness Scholarship
To be considered for the 2025 Hatfield Lioness Scholarship at Durham University, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Unconditional Offer: Applicants must have applied for and received an unconditional offer for their chosen Master's program by June 2025.
- No Other Scholarships: Applicants must not be receiving any other scholarships to fund their postgraduate studies.
- Gender: Applicants must be female.
- Nationality: Applicants must be nationals of a developing country, as specified on the application page.
Academic Requirements:-
- Applicants must hold a relevant honours degree of sufficient standard to be admitted to the chosen Master's program.
- Applicants must meet all other course entry requirements, including the relevant English language qualification.
- Previous Degrees: Applicants should not already hold a Master’s degree.
- Financial Need: Applicants must not have the financial means to pursue a Master’s degree in the UK.
Benefits of the 2025 Hatfield Lioness Scholarship
The scholarship will cover the following:
- Full Tuition Fees: Complete payment of university tuition fees.
- Living Stipend: A stipend for living expenses.
- Travel: One return economy airfare from the applicant’s home country to the UK, as well as the cost of return travel between the UK airport and Durham City.
- Accommodation: Fully funded, self-catered, mixed accommodation at Hatfield College.
- Settling-In Allowance: A settling-in allowance upon arrival.
- Visa and Health Costs: The cost of a UK visa and the UK Health Surcharge.
How to Apply for the 2025 Hatfield Lioness Scholarship (Step by Step Guide)
Interested and eligible applicants should follow the steps below to apply for the Hatfield Lioness Scholarship:
Stage 1:
