Research Focus
McGill's research team is looking for highly motivated MSc and PhD students to contribute to cutting-edge projects focused on:
- Power system stability, security, and resilience
- Integration of advanced data-driven techniques with power system knowledge
- Developing analytical tools and efficient algorithms to address modern grid challenges, such as:
- Diverse energy source integration
- Cyber asset vulnerabilities
- Climate change impacts
The overarching mission is to strengthen the security, stability, and resilience of power systems during normal operations, uncertain conditions, and extreme events.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered, applicants must:
- Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
- Have a solid foundation in linear algebra, differential equations, probability & statistics, and knowledge in power system operation, stability, and/or optimization.
- Be proficient in tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, Python, DSATools, PSS/E, RT-LAB, or PSCAD.
- Prior research experience (e.g., publications or thesis work) is an added advantage.
