The Public Health Policy Evaluation Unit, located within the Department of Primary Care and Public Health at Imperial College London, is offering a three-year PhD studentship for eligible students from low- or middle-income countries (LMICs), funded by NIHR.
This opportunity is part of a comprehensive global health systems and policy research program, also funded by NIHR, which focuses on health systems fragmentation in Latin America and India.
The PhD studentship will contribute to the generation of knowledge on health system fragmentation through various research activities in four countries with high poverty and inequality levels: Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and India.
The research program aims to quantify the nature and variation of financing fragmentation in these countries, explore how financing fragmentation impacts health system objectives—such as improving access, enhancing the quality of health services, and reducing costs for patients—and assess the impact of key health system reforms on fragmentation and health system goals.
